The strikes happened because the government decided to change a firefighters job and to include many other roles within their working day.
Many firefighters cannot even afford to get a mortgage on a property within the area of their station. The local bin men get paid more than a firefighter here. Their wage never goes up with the rate of inflation and thats why they get so far behind and start askin for large sums.
They knew that the world was devided on this issue and many many firefighters were not happy about being on strike as thats not why they joined.
The job is only portrayed as 5% dangerous because they do so much training and ensure that its only 5%, 2 young firemen lost their lives earlier this year trying to save a mother and baby, they were unbelievably brave and will not be forgotton.
And Davver you talk such b'll'cks, during the strike the army attempted a job that they had very little experience in and it showed, and if you can walk into any firestation and find someone alseep or watchin telly then let us know, cos from what ive heard it just doesnt happen anymore.
And thats my views on this one!
