Michael Barrymore - wasn't he good !

I have been sorting out a spare room at home and found a box of old videos I had recorded.
One of them was the Royal Variety Show from 1993, and top of the bill was Michael Barrymore.
I was never a great fan at the time, but I have to say he was brilliant. He did about 15 minutes and it was a mixture of comedy, singing, and dancing.
He totally dominated the stage and really got the audience laughing and clapping, and totally on his side.
I know he has had his problems (many self inflicted) but there is no doubt he was an excellent performer.
The sad thing about watching the show was the people no longer with us - Harry Secombe, Roy Castle, Leslie Crowther and Maurice Gibb.

It doesn't matter who actually murdered the youth, Barrymore covered it up and lied to the police, thereby ensuring that justice was evaded.
I hope that he spends every day miserably contemplating his actions.

I too never liked him, I didn't find him funny & wondered why the audience did. He appeared to be just over the top silly. Not laughing material for me. He apeared fake and somewhat sinister, especially when he presented the 'Kids say the funniest things' programme, made uncomfortable viewing for me, the guy is creapy.
Found a section of his Royal Variety routine on YouTube here:
