Children wanted?
8 Answers
Would men seriously consider dating or marrying a woman who would rather not have children? Or is that just the perfect excuse to break up down the line?
Just wondering how men feel about procreation.

My husband married me knowing i never want a child. there are definately men (and women) out there for whom having a baby is not on their radar.
I work at the CSA and every day i have to deal with the fallout of (80% of the time) men who have abandoned their kids and don't see why they should have to pay for their upkeep. I really think more couples should discuss their child-rearing preferences as early on as possible, to avoid heartache in the future.
I can see what you mean, though, kctgreat, most people we know think we are mad for not wanting a baby. Most people, it seems, DO want a child at soemtime in their life. Tho i'm surprised at how mamy of my Myspace friends have "I don't want kids" on their profile.

I couldn't agree with you more pinkkitty. I think lots of people want children but don't realize the tremendous responsibility they are undertaking. I grow faint just contemplating it. All my girlfriends wanted a white wedding and children... I'm the odd ball in my peer group. I love children...love playing with them for a while but I love just as much giving them back to their parents. :) I'm their favorite auntie. Sigh...I'm hoping the man in fall for won't decide to leave me when he realizes he wants children after all. Am I overthinking things?
There are obviously people that never want children and the way the world is going I don't blame them, but I still don't think most men abandom them, pink, says about the CSA, well that is a joke, no wonder they are getting rid of it, I know a case where a girl got pregnant on purpose, (she told her boyfriend she was on the pill) they split, she denied him access and what do the CSA do, award her 200 per week, out of his 300 per week take home pay, call that fair ? it is a complete joke, I would not want to pay that either, it is rarely as clear cut as the bloke just vanishing is it pink, do you think the people you work for do a good job ? I don't.I am not blaming you but the system, it is not fair to either side. if you never want children Kct, that is fine as long as it is discussed before marriage.
I think in life things do change, my sister never wanted kids, yet at 35 she decided that all of a sudden she wants to have a baby, we were all shocked because we knew and respected her views against parenthood.
I am sure you will find a man who shares your outlook on life, there are many men who do not want to have children, I know of several so its probably more common than you think. however that said who know 10 years down the line people's expectations and wants change

I'm female - I have no desire to have kids. I have two cats and I am happy.
My brother is married with two young ones and they are the centre of his universe. He is brilliant with them and has endless patience.
When our parents were young they got married and had children without giving consideration to whether they actually wanted children. These days there is a choice, I have many married friends who have no children.
We are all different. It is nice to see big guys in town with their children, that didn't happen when I was young.
I am happy with my cats - no nappies, no illegal drugs, no racing cars in the street - just he odd punch up (siblings - they are just like human siblings) and fight over toys.
I am 43 - hopefully past my 'breeding years'.
