Rust mark on a carpet
3 Answers
One of the junior Overalls has gone on holiday and I decided to take my life in my hands and clear out the slum he calls his bedroom. Under the bed I found an old can of WD40 (don't ask!) which has gone rusty and left a horrid mark on the cream carpet. I've tried 1001 carpet cleaner but it won't shift the rust. Any ideas please?

Recommends....Rust - Put lemon juice on the mark, leave for a minute then rinse off with water, repeat if necessary. If this is unsuccessful professional cleaning will normally remove rust.

Thanks for that BOO. I have to admit it WAS a traumatic experience doing his room (yes, he is a teen) but I have recovered so many "lost" items of crockery, cutlery as well as clothing, tools & aftershave "borrowed" from his dad and loads of "missing" CD's. When he gets back from his hols the shock will probably kill him. I managed to remove the pizza & cola stains from the carpet but the rust was stubborn.
I think I'll buy him a tent for Xmas and he can go live in that!
