I have a Bay Tree which usually stands by my front door - It has become quite sickly looking recently though, some of the leaves are brown tipped and look dried out? It looks a bit tatty and sparse too - Any ideas??

if it is in a pot, then it might need re-potting. it will need fresh earth in a bigger pot to bring it back to life.

I've just re-potted a ficus which was totally pot-bound and all the leaves had fallen off - it is now green and healthy again!
I was going to suggest the same thing, especially if it's been in the same pot for several years and hasn't been regularly fed. Move it to a bigger pot, scraping a little of the existing old soil off the roots and if possible mix a little well rotted manure in with the fresh compost in the new pot. And keep it well watered. It may need a little time to recover
