does anyone out there own at san rafael in tenerife. i purchased off plan about 20 years ago, a company called bonus vacation direct want to sell it for me, they say they have a buyer willing to pay 6000+, but want 600+ up front from me., is this a scam, would also like to speak to anyone who owns at this resort , i need information as soon as possible as he's phoning back tonight for a answer
Oh yes, it is undoubtedly a scam. WHATEVER reason they may claim for wanting money upfront, you will never see the money again and I am 99.9% sure they will end up finding a reason why the deal falls through.
There is an oversupply of secondhand timeshare in Europe. Even in a pretty good resort, a week's timeshare sells at less than 2000. Why on earth would anyone willingly pay 6000 for your Unit?
Be very careful when considering selling: never pay them any money without results first, no sellers worth their salt demand money until their commission after the sale is agreed. Check with the exchange organisations, but more importantly the Timeshare Council (your resort operator can give you the contact details). Frankly, I doubt if there is a single resort in Tenerife where the resale value of a single week/unit (even the largest) would fetch 6000 on the resale market - and that is before commission comes off.
