why do UK tourists visit france and what can tourist do there

Visit France for the better weather, the great wines and lovely cheeses. They can go to Disneyland Paris (a theme park unlike any British one), visit the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Champs Elysee etc. They can walk along the Seine, go to the Moulin Rouge. Or just camp in the summer months.
