Promotion Application Form

I am going for a promotion and the application form is competency and skills based. I have completed seven out of eight questions but I am stuck on one. As I make decisions on a regular basis without consulting my Senior Manager as he is a staffing Manager who does not have the practical or theoretical knowledge to physically do my job he wouldn't be able to guide me too much anyway. The answer needs to be no more than 50 words and has to be specific. How can I pick one instance from years of making decisions.

The question is;

Have you ever made a decision without seeking guidance from your Manager about the way you organise your work? If yes what was the decision and what were the changes you made? How did these changes meet the needs the teams requirements more effectively.?

Why not just write about an instance that sticks in your mind above all other decisions.
As you said, you do this on a regular basis without the help of your Line Manager.
I am sure that once you choose a situation that required a decison of your own making, it will all come naturally to you and the pen will just flow.
