Old computer wont start

My friend wants my old PC that hasn't been used for over a year. I decided to see if it was ok before I gave it to her, but I couldn't get a thing. The processor was whirring away, but blank screen and just nothing. Tried to use it with my screen, but even that was blank. Has anyone any ideas. have put it all together before so dont think I did anything wrong there. Oh and by the way the monitor light goes orange after a few seconds which I think means its in sleep mode. Thank you

It's a graphics issue. Does the pc beep when you turn it on?

If it does beep when you turn it on, try it with a different monitor.
