Digital camera with larger than normal buttons
4 Answers
I have Parkinson's Disease and I want to invest in a digital camera - basic but with larger buttons. Fisher Price have a children's camera but it is Barbie Pink or Boy Blue and would probably be what I need but as I'm 55 I think I'd draw attention. Any ideas for me?

Pick up and handle any that take your fancy - ask for advice.
If you find one that is suitable, come home and check on line prices before purchasing.
I imagine weight might be a factor too.
If you are serious about photography and the quality is important, it may be worth considering 'rugged' cameras that are meant to be used in tough outdoor situations - such as mountaineering and yachting. The use demands that the buttons are big - so can be used wearing gloves, or single handed - and non-fiddly. These are specialist cameras and can be pricey, but can stand being dropped and usually have very high specs.
Make sure whichever camera you buy can be used with a tripod - I imagine this would be essential for you in some circumstances.

Try Googling for the VTech Kidizoom. It's not quite as brightly coloured as as the Fisher Price model and it seems to have a reasonable specification. Some sites suggest that Toys 'R' Us stock it but it's not on their website. However, it's certainly available from some places, such as Littlewoods. (The Littlewoods price is dearer than that suggested for Toys 'R' Us, so that's why I suggest looking around for the best price):

I know it sounds obvious but a Google search for 'digital camera with large buttons' does actually bring up some interesting results, including what looks like quite a suitable Ricoh.
The suggestion to try Jessups is good and if you prefer to buy from a shop but have seen what you want cheaper online you might like to know that I have been told by them that they will match an online offer.
