Butler sink chipping plates

I've got a butler sink in my kitchen, which I'm happy with but can anyone recommend something to stop my plates being chipped when I wash up? Sink removal or dishwasher not an option!

This is exactly why we all ripped those sinks out in the 40s and 50s.
And the water goes cold very quickly in them.
