Us Southern Softies did it too! Can't find a site (or any lolly sticks to check this works) but I think this is what you did: you need 5 sticks, lay one stick as the horizontal base of something like an equilateral triangle with a centimetre(?) of overlap at the corners (this is very hard to describe in just words!). Place a second stick so that it overlaps the left-hand end of the base stick, and complete the "triangle" with a third stick overlapping the "free" end of Stick 2, and also overlapping the right hand end of Stick 1. Now place a horizontal fourth stick as the "crossbar" 1/2 way up the triangle, agin - leave a fair bit of overlap. This needs to be on top of both Stick 2 and 3. Finally, use a fifth stick to tension the whole thing. This goes vertically 1/2 way along Stick 1 - under Stick 1, over Stick 4 and under the apex of the triangle formed by Sticks 2 and 3. You should have something that looks vaguely like an arrow with a short shaft, with the head pointing upwards. You hold the "shaft" and throw it like a boomerang! (Just tried it with wooden kebab sticks and it works, but isn't as aerodynamic as flat lolly sticks).
