I may be moving to Mancester which is a bit of a big deal for me!! I am a country bumpkin at heart, lived in n wales all my life and thought i would never do the city thing!! I also have a silly phobia about crime in cities!! However i am fed up with not being able to find a decent job, i have no ties, i want to open up my opportunities, I have family in Manchester and im soon to finish a degree in history!! Please if there are any Manchunians out there try to convince me as to why i should move to Manchester!! Sell your city!!
(have i spelt manchunians right?? i'm gonna need to know this if im moving there)

The nightlife is buzzing, it has one of the largest student populations in Europe, two great football teams, good public transport, Beethams Tower, hundreds of top restaurants (particularly Indian & Chinese), loads of trendy bars, two huge shopping centres, lots of history (back to Roman times), a very busy airport, friendly people, museums, art galleries, music venues, a constantly changing cityscape - and I live there!

If you do decide to take the plunge, I'd recommend finding digs in the south of the city (Chorlton, Withington, Fallowfield, Didsbury etc).
Good luck!

Hello Taliesin,
You sound like me!! I'm also moving to Manchester from Northamptonshire and the thought of a big city fills me with terror! The job situation in Northants is appalling, and the people are not very friendly, no surprise there as they're all from London anyway.
I have been told that Mancunians are down to earth and a friendly lot. There are social groups which get together and go on outings which I certainly will join when I move, as I don't know anyone in Manchester. I also hope to get to grips with the accent! As a Swiss german, I have yet to understand estuary english, lol!
