Name of children's book/author set in 2nd World War
6 Answers
Could someone please give me the name of the children's book or series of children's books about a group of children that get evacuated to the countryside during the 2nd World War and basically recounts their experiences/adventures in their new surroundings. I think they came from the East End of London and had never been to the country before and so the book was written with lots of vivid descriptions of their first "country" experiences. It was a very innocent book and written Enid Blyton style. I read it when I was about 10 in the early 80s although I think it may have been written in the 50s or 60s and I think there may have been a series of them. Please help its driving me mad!!

Apologies for throwing you all off the scent re WW2 and childhood evacuees I think it was because the books were set in the 1940s and it was over 25 years since I read them!!
Thank you everyone for your replies I really do appreciate it and so do my office who have also been racking their brains regarding this! Thank you all :) and especially to you feebal for remembering you are a star!
