i have recently become more and more aware of the dangers of fire related illnesses and (for want of a better phrase), found myself growing paranoid at the thought of SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION. My question to you is, what do i do in the event that i suddenly burst into a screaming, reeling ball of fire and death? please help!!

If you were to spontaneously combust, you wouldn't have the chance to know anything about it so i wouldn't worry too much.
Die? Reduce your self to a small pile of ash and charred clothing?

Stop, Drop and Roll is the usual advice but if it is SHC then you're ******** basically.
i think the obvious answer would be - thrash around in agony for a few minutes until you die (this will occur once your flesh on your arms and legs has been split open and the fat within has been burnt away, your arms will be forced upwards over your head as flexor muscles cook and shorted - though you can always pray that the fumes take you first)... good luck
Look on the bright side, at least you'll save on a cremation.
you could carry around a personal fire extinguisher"or maybe a fire alarm ,pocked size.also make sure if your on a dance floor that you are only 2 minutes from the ocean?. good luck.
I had this too but I was really young, about 7 or 8 and had read an article about Spontaneous Human Combustion and thought it would happen to me. I'm fine 9 years on!
Didn't they prove that spontaneous combustion is just a myth? It was hard to find out because the people it supposedly happened to were always along (there's a clue there about whether it exists) and they found out that it was normally people who were on medication or drunk who set fire to themselves and were too out of it to put themselves out! The body actually burns slowly a bit like a candle with the fat acting as fuel and the rest of you as a wick and so the feet were often the only bit left because there's not much fat there. Hope you've clamed down now greywaters.
That was meant to say the people were always ALONE and hope you've CALMED down
really? never heard that. I was under the impression that temps obtained during SHB were enough to burn bones etc and were then so hot that you would be dead before having a chance to worry. I certainly haven't heard of any 999 calls about it :)
Most cases involved smoking and the victims were usually known to drink spirits. many were overweight. Sometimes SHC occurs in small areas of the body like one man who noticed a bright blue flame coming from his leg though he felt no pain. He pulled up his jeans to see the flame coming from a small hole in the leg and managed to smother it with his hands, after a short while the flame had died out.He went to the doctor who stitched up the wound. Most aren't so lucky and the "fire" starts inside the stomach or chest. I absolutely believe in this phenomenon but it's very rare. Whatever you do, don't dowse the flame in water. Just like those chip pan fire demonstrations...Good luck greywaters!
Telling you it is never going to happen might not be enough to alleviate your fears. If you are constantly thinking about this you might be damaging your health and should see a doctor.
