My boyfriend just got a new car second hand, yesterday took it for a drive and it did fine for a while but then started jumping but then was fine again. Then today it was fine and then started jumping again until it just stalled and just kept stalling everytime. The guy that towed him home said it may be that "green diesel" (has a green nozzel at the petrol station so looks similar to unleaded) may have been put in by mistake. Has anyone any advice? Some sites seem to say its an expensive job to fix while other say its just a case of getting out any diesel from the tank and letting the car deal with it. would be very grateful for any words of wisdom.

It would be better to get a proper diagnostic check at a decent garage to find the problem before taking someones guess that it might be the wrong fuel in the car.

It is the cheapest option in the long run.
as toureman says get it checked out at a garage,if it is diesel in the engine and he has driven it for a while,it could be a expensive fix or a new engine.,has he put in any fuel in the car or did it come like that. if it came with the fuel and its wrong, then he should claim from the garage,if he has put in wrong fuel, then its down to him, please explain a little more.
When a friend of mine put diesel in her petrol car it went about 20 feet then stopped - I wasn't aware that the engine would run at all with the wrong fuel in. Could be wrong tho'.... it has been known :o)) Could be something as simple as dirt in the carb.
