I have an Acer Aspire 3682WXmi laptop and my husband wants to add memory to it. He has the card but cannot get the back off. He has followed the instructions (he is good with computers so knows what he is doing) But the back just won't shift. He has looked on the net but can't find anything to help. Anyone done this that can give us any tips??
TIA

Whatever you do don't ring support .... you will pay top dollar for acer brand memory

look on these sites
(for starters ... others will no doubt have their own favourites to add)

see how the prices fit your pocket
oops .... now I've read the whole question (blush) -

get the manual here ....

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_3680/manual/AS3680_5570_5580%20User's%20Manual_ENG.pdf

you need page 81 (nice diagram) .... this is what it says

1 Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove
the battery pack. Then turn the computer over to access its base.
2 Remove the screws from the memory cover; then lift up and remove the
memory cover.
3 (a) Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot, then (b) gently press
it down until it clicks into place.
4 Replace the memory cover and secure it with the screw.
5 Reinstall the battery pack, and reconnect the AC adapter.
6 Turn on the computer.
The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory size.
Please consult a qualified technician or contact your local Acer dealer.

Thanks for the comments - he followd the instructions but when he got the screws out he could not shift the back panel - and he wondered whether there were clips or something that haven't been mentioned anywhere. Will have to take it somewhere methinks! Ta anyway
