DS, as there are more games for his age group.

Definitley the DS for youer son. Nintendo have a certain flair for making fun games that children can't get enough of.
The PSP is more adult orientated not only by the type of games produced for it but also what else it can do such as play UMD movies and mp3s, things your son probably won't be into for another few years. The DS is cheaper to buy too.
