When were choc-ices first available, and who invented them?

For anyone who may not know, choc-ices are a rectangular block of ice cream surrounded by a layer of chocolate.

I think it was Walls ice cream that invented them but can't remember when. I watched something about them on that How it works or someting like that on Sky. They made sausages in the winter but they didn't sell in the summer so they tried ice-cream things for the summer.
Dipping the ice-cream coronet into a hot chocolate sauce has been on the go for a very long time. But the first wrapped choc-ice would appear to be the Klondike Bar.
