Make sure baby is fed and winded, a warm bath may help to settle her, and no stimulation at all for the lasthour before she goes down.
Just reasure her if she stirs, be in the room, and speak very softy to her, and lean over her cot so she can smell you, and be assured you are there.
Don't worry about your son, he will soon adapt to the disturbance, children always do - so be patient, she will get there.

I think nearly all kids wake up in the night sometimes, its just that some go back to sleep themselves and some need/want mum/dad! Do you still feed her in the night? When my boy was only a couple of months old i just gave him water if he woke in the night. When he was older he rarely woke but if he did i would leave him for a bit and usually he'd go back to sleep himself. Its best to let them soothe themselves back to sleep, my boy sucked his thumb so i think that helped. As long as they go to sleep on their own at bedtime they should be ok doing this.
Good luck.

Johnsons have just brought out a sleepy bath foam. This has lavender in it which is a known soporific. Can't hurt to try. Or you could try a few drops of lavender oil on a cloth attached to the bed. I used to find if my children did anything energetic during the day they were more restless so.......although at 5 months your little darling is probably teething.
Have you weaned her yet? Could she still be hungry? HAve you got a proper bedtime routine in place? Have you tried dream feeding her?where you get her out of her cot still asleep say when you go to bed and give her a bottle. They do drink it and usually a fair bit too. It fills up there tummies and they usually sleep longer than normal. Also it is more convenient for you to do it before you go to bed rather than being woken up a few hours later.

Have you tried puting ceral in her night bottle?.... this helped with my daughter. She would sleep though the night after giving her ceral in her bottle. Also try putting her to bed first... let her cry herself to sleep. THen when she's asleep put your son to bed, that way she want wake him. Good luck!!
Yeah ive tried all of the above, warm bath, weaning her,no stimulation at night, water instead of feeds, she is quite clingy more so than my son.
