Digital TV reception
4 Answers
Our landlords want us to link up to the new communal digital tv aerial they have fitted. The firm they hired did not seem to competent to me. Our neighbour has it installed and yet cannot get BBC1 and ITV1 properly. The guy who installed it blamed the transmitter and said nothing could be done. I do not want them messing about in my home just to have this happen. Can something be done? Is this likely to happen when we all homes are forced to go digital? Also they want to get into one particular place in my living room to hook up the system, a very awkward spot where the old useless communal aerial used to be. Is this necessary or can they actually fit it in somewhere else?
Thanks in advance for any help. I am most unhappy about this.

Can I ask a few questions first
1. How good is your current analogue reception esp. on the channels you say your neighbour is having problems with.
2. Do you already receive digital tv through your aerial (do you have a DTT tuner or PVR)
3. You can check your DTT reception on this website if you know your postcode.

It will also say which transmitter is used.

Sounds like it could be a bit iffy on the reception front. Text is a good inicator of reception quality and it sounds as if that's poor with missing letters etc.
Did the DTG website say if you can receive Freeview yet or not?
As analogue is switched off they will be increasing the power of digital transmissions, so poor digital reception at the mo will get better over the next three years ( analogue will be switched off by 2012)
