There have been times in my life when I have been a bit skint, and a few times when I have been literally going hungry. However, I never had the guts to get food out of the supermarket bins. I wish I had, as I used to look with envy at the luxury items my more brazen freinds had collected from the Budgens bins on an almost daily basis..
I say luxury, one day they would have eight pounds of fillet steak, and then find nothing but cornflakes and baking soda for a week.
Supermarkets began to lock their bins at night a few years back - I still hate the thought of perfectly good food going to waste, for more reason than one.
