How do I remove the about:blank default browser

It may be as simple as changing your home page. navigate to the web page you want to use as you new home page then goto:
Tools -> Internet Options then click the Use Current button. Click ok and hey presto.
If this doesn't do the trick then you have spyware on your pc. download and run Adaware or Spybot Search & Destroy. Both can be found by googling.
