Are women born stupid, or just evolve as such?

Just read about Britons, and in particularly women, having an incapacity to comprehend maps.

We are not talking a recon satelite image with no compass bearings, nor antiquated moon charts, we are talking AA road atlases.

Yes, I have sat-nav in my car but this is only a relatively new thing. I have travelled thousands of miles with a trusted old A3 AA road map!!!

It appears 1 in 5 men and a staggering 3 in 5 of the fairer sex can not distinguish a motorway from a B road.

My question therefore, is this proof that birds really are stupid and should stay away from all things motor car-ish.

Or am I just a plain old-fashioned sexist pig?

When faced with such deliberate provocation, presumably designed to insult, belittle and even subjugate women; the purpose is presumably an attempt to promulgate the superiority of men. It is very tempting to conclude women are stupid for not smothering some men child at birth.

However, without wanting to appear too condensing I consider it is to womens credit that not only can we create perfection and beauty, but we can also give birth to sweet little pets whose cuteness is not too diminished by their tendency to wee every where. We grow, tend and nurture these big brave boys so they are fully capable of doing all our chores we can not bother with. Why some of them are becoming so well trained they spend hours chatting about the rival qualities of supermarkets. Fantastic, I can not imagine a subject more trivial but our men are shouldering this burden admirably. Soon our toys will be able to multi task.

But, by far, there are some qualities men excel in and in areas no women have been able to adequately compete.

In no particular order

Rape of women
Rape of men
Sexual Abuse of children
War
Weeing up walls
Sociopathy
Psychopathy
Being absent fathers

See both men and women can trade gratuitous (maybe not gratuitous) insults are we not very clever.

Question Author
Women can not rape, as a matter of law.

Women can not be absent fathers as a matter of biology.

Women can now fight in wars, and often do.

Women can not wee up walls because they do not have hoses like men, again biology.

Sociopathy and Pychopathy is pretty much shared between the sexes. Without evidence, this is an assumption, I admit.

Abuse children. Sexual abuse yes is far more commonnly committed by men, other types of abuse is fairly equal.

What exactly is your point?????

I am lost.

Well Shadow Man, if you are lost, you should get a woman to read the map for you.

Superb
amazing lankeela
I can read maps. It's easy peasy for a bloke like me.
Interesting.
my satalite nav is a woman talking on it just goes to show lol
I can sort of read a map if the car isn't moving ( makes me sick to read ) , and providing I have it the right way up .
Not that we need it with the sat-nav now. :-)
one of the questions in my interview for my job was to explain where the north point was on the map and to explain the types of road classification..i.e. A and B roads and now they look different on a map, come on girlies, it's really not that difficult surely?? x
I'm good at knowing where I am in relation to where I've come from. By that I sort of mean I can always find my way back to or from somewhere I've been before even if it's miles away.

I'm terrible at giving directions to someone quickly, like in a car, though as I tend to say "left" when I mean "right".

I'm really good when on trecks, mountain climbs etc because I was lucky and got tuition once on how to read maps and find your way from anywhere to anywhere when I was about 10.

My personal best was when I was eleven. My dad and step-mum had introduced me to two goatherds in Switzerland. They lived a mountain and a half away from our house in Wengen. I wanted to go and milk the goats so they agreed I could if I turned up the next morning at 5.30. I left my house at 3.30 and actually arrived. There was no worry on my dad's side as he knew I'd find it - for some reason we all have this weird way of knowing our way around - but looking back it has to be said that if my little eleven-year-old daughter suddenly wanted to pop off and milk goats on a two-hour walk away on her own I'd definitely say no.
Women can not rape, as a matter of law.

And I suppose men can, then...

Women can not be absent fathers as a matter of biology.

True, but men are generally the absent parent. You're more likely to find single mothers than single fathers (though single fathers are by no means rare, to be fair)

Sociopathy and Pychopathy is pretty much shared between the sexes. Without evidence, this is an assumption, I admit.

I forget the exact project, but research done by an American institution indicates that some 90-something percent of serial killers are men.
I wonder why people find it acceptable to be overtly sexist on here, but not racist. I guess it is just to ensure a steady stream of angry posts. One lame way to make sure you provoke a reaction.
But either way, STOP IT.
I am really good at map reading, in fact I like to read maps in my spare time! I find them fascinating. Some people find it easier than others like every bloody single thing in the world. Yawn.
Scarlett, you've hit the nail on the head!

I wasn't going to post on this thread yesterday, but did so to inform Wardy & any other sexist male, that I, as a 'mere' woman, can drive. I can also do many other things a man can do & even better in some cases, etc., etc., but thought I'd stick to the question in hand - motoring.

Anyway, I was being facetious in my post yesterday about not being a very good map reader & relying on AA Route Planners, or my husband being a man, to write down directions for me!

How the hell do you think I've driven all those thousands of miles around England & in all the other countries since 1972, without the aid of maps?!?!
Smudge- quite! I guess irony is too sophisticated for some on here! What gets me is that if a post was offensive in that it used language, or heaven forbid, racist, it would be banned straight away. Some men on here seem t think it rather amusing that they can be sexist, and back it up by saying "Well that's my opinon- I am just old fashioned."
Nonsense! I could say "sorry, I am just old fashioned but I do believe that black people should be slaves to the white." It is just as offensive to make sweeping statements about women- to women. Women have had to fight for a long time to be taken seriously and treated equally. Have some respect those of you who are deliberately being "provocative". In a few years time I am certain that being overtly sexist will be viewed as seriously as being racist, ageist, sexist etc.
G'night all.
Now then .....let me think.....motorways...are they the ones where men hog the middle lane?? and the majority of women know that you should drive in the inside lane and OVERTAKE only in the other 2!!! and oh by the way we DO have a speed limit in the UK and it isn't in excess of 80 mph!

I can read a map, was in the army and it was one of the first things we were taught, we were taken into the middle of nowhere with a map and a compass, and guess what all us girls found our way home again, well within our given time limit!! SURPRISED??
Put it this way; I took a headache pill last night, no good, she was still there this morning.
men must be the stupid ones to actually think that, atleast women can do more than 1 thing at once
