Perseids Meteor Shower

I believe its happening in the early hours of tomorrow morning, have never actually bothered to stay up to try and experience it. Is it worth it?
we live in the West Mids, how likely are we to get a good view?

i remember about 10 years ago and i was working nights me and my mates stood outside for ages watcing the shooting stars it was spectacular if you like anything like that its worth watching.i live in stoke and we had a great view.you need a clear sky tho lol....

no we had a great view if you are lucky you will see between 60-70 meteors an hour.of course if you live in the city light pollution may be a problem.they are worth watching tho.

Just go outside with hardly any backlight and look EAST!

according to stardate.org, its due on August 12th from 11pm onwards till dawn the next morning. so sounds like toonmilo is right, and skynews are wrong.

from BBC news website. says to look Northeast, or wherever the sky is darkest, also says that as long as the weather is good, there'll be a good view, even with light pollution.

I thought that i was a freak as i spends my evenings watching the sky.
Pollution can cause a problem and cloud the sky, but can disperse very quickly but in my view avoid the town with the streets lights etc...

this week we have been spoiled with shooting stars . July and august are the best time .This week has been a treat, shooting stars and meteors showers , look south and be patient, It is amazing.
Saturn too, fantastic, with telescope or good binoculors as you can see the rings moving around the planet it is a show.
Uranus will be visible in september,looking south. 2850 millions km away, visible at the naked eye and colour green , circled by eleven rings and 27 moons.

Can this be seen from any area of the UK or is better is certain areas?

from what i can tell, most people in the northern hemisphere will be able to see it, as long as the vivbility is good, in terms of cloud/light pollution, with europe and North America getting the best of the view.

There has been some fantastic views of the space station this week . next view is tonight at precisely 9 41 pm in the uk with a 5 minute sighting then another at 11 16 pm I f you are interested where to find everything such as watching the shuttle land and undock and see the space walks I put details in on 06/08/2007 in the science topic.

I have just looked at the sky outside and in the West there are some moving lights. They are going round and round in circles. 4 central ones, 8 further out and 16 further out still. They can't be meteors because there is a low cloudbase - it is raining. What phenomenon is causing this?

it rained in the night and now its very cloudy, i think that come tonight i won't be able to see very much. :(
