How do you know if a mango is ready to eat?

Press it with your thumb. You should be able to make a small dent. Those with black spots are over-ripe.

I go by the smell. If it smells sweet and strong, then it is a good mango and ripe
If you cannot smell anything, forget it!!!
Even some green mangoes are ripe, not all ripe ones are red and yellow.
