I only earn just over 13,000 and I am waiting on a wage increase at the end of this month (how much I don't know just yet). I will live on my own but would like to get a 2 bed place if I have people over. I would be buying or renting myself. What is best for me to rent or buy and also accommodation - house or flat?

Everything depends on where you want to live. If it helps, we have just let our modern, unfurnished 2-bed flat in Central Bristol (near Temple Meads Station) at 600 per month. Waterside 2-bed flats fetch 700+ per month. These rents are much lower than the mortgage repayments would be, assuming you borrowed 85% of the value.
Hi sooz07, I have just taken on a rented one bedroom flat in Gosport in Hants. 525 per calendar month. 500 deposit and admin fees of 150 (not refundable). I think it depends where you are. Have a look on rightmove.co.uk it is a good site.
