I drive as part of my job. I'm just about to lose my license through a drink driving conviction. What happens to my job?

That depends on your employer and the terms and conditions of your employment.

You may be asked to work in another department that doesn't involve driving.

You may be sacked.

Ask your boss.
As above. If driving is a critical part of your job, your employer may legally dismiss you (giving you your notice period under your conditions of employment) for 'Some other Substantive Reason' - one the fair reasons for dismissal.
if you need to drive and can't you will likely be sacked.

many people strangely believe that they can get away with various, serious car offences because they drive for their job - not the case... you may get other penalities like fines etc for parking etc, but not drink driving.

The requirement should be the ability to travel. It is discriminatory to require somenone to be able to drive for most jobs. Could your friend get someone to drive them or could they do their duties using public transport?
