My AVG Anti-virus is showing in an Error State.
It says that the internal virus database is out-of-date.
I removed it from my computer and then installed it again but the same thing is showing.
How can I fix the problem?

You need to update it. Click 'Check for Updates' - it'll do it automatically then. Oh, and then go to scheduler, and set the update plan to update every day.

Thanks but its not that. The scheduler is showing that automatic updates take place daily. There were no new updates for today. Its still saying that the internal virus database is out-of-date hmmmm
What date is yours showing (have a look at the bottom of the main page)

Mine says 269.11.17/951 released 13/08/2007 (today).

If it shows anything older your daily updates are not working.

As Whickerman says press Check for Updates

Make sure your firewall is not blocking the updates.

vehelpfulguy-you're right. I have checked the date at the bottom of the screen and its 24/06/2007!
HOWEVER-when I check for updates I get this popup:

Update was unsuccesful.
Can not initialize the update interface. Installation of AVG Free Edition is probably damaged. Please reinstall AVG Free Edition.

Im ********. I already removed AVG earlier today and reinstalled it from download.com and this is still what I get. So reinstalling has done nothing.
Try uninstalling it, then deleting the C:\Program Files\Grisoft folder, then reinstalling it.
Question Author
I uninstalled it and deleted the Grisoft folder then shut down the pc, restarted it and reinstalled. Its still the same :(

Will I ever find a solution to this problem?
My computer with Vista does exactly that but the one with XP doesnt. Both are identically configured.
