ex husbands debt
4 Answers
my ex husband has a bank loan which he took out while still living together. He hasnt paid it & has been refered to a debt collection agency -still hasnt paid it ! He is still joint homeowner on the morgage & im afraid that the house could be sold to pay his debts, he also has a 2000 balance on his credit card. I cant get his name off the morgage as im not working due to ill health. The dss is paying part of the morgage. & i pay the short fall. What can i do , he refuses to have the debt letters sent to his new address as he says his name is still on the morgage. I have a good credit record, & I think his debts may get me blacklisted. because they r sent to my address

He can argue all he likes, but he will find the terms and conditions of every loan he has states that the lender will be informed of change of address.

Hi... Are the loans secured to the house? If there are any secured debts then the house could be sold, but non-secured the house cannot be touched!
As for getting you black listed...as long as the debts are not in your joint names, you will be alright. Also you can put a notice of correction on your credit record, which means you can explain everything as you have mentioned. So when creditors do a search they can see the debts were due to your ex. Hope this helps!!

I would highly recommend you put a 'Notice of Correction' on your credit file. Experian will be able to help you with that ... www.experian.co.uk. This will enable you to put a note on your credit file so anyone searching will take this into account. Good luck and make sure you do it early so the longer it goes on the less effect it will have on your credit file.
PS There is no such thing as Black Listing. It's all score based and that scoring can be on anything from if you are on the electoral role / time at address / time with bank / existing credit / number of credit searches etc.
Hope this helps x
