no noise coming out computer

Can't get any volume to come out of my computer. what do i go on to put the volume up?I know im stupid, iv crashed 2 computers before!lol

If you're running windows there should be an icon that looks like a small cannonball on the bottom right of the grey bar that goes across the bottom.

Click it and check that the volume level is up and that the mute option isn't ticked.

Also there are sometimes volume sliders and mute buttons in programs that you can adjust to get sound right.

Are you using external speakers, are they plugged into the correct socket? Powered on?
