i would like to start on this. however no idea where to. have tasted it before and found it to be not very nice in taste, ie bitter. i prefer a sweeter taste. they say all red wine is good for you but are there ones in particular? thanks
How old are you Paul, sounds like you should be drinking ribeana, instead of red wine ol son, Hic, Yeah red wine is good for you, Merlot, Shiraz, a good Red and a favorite of mine is Wolf Blass, yellow label, very good, and I apologise if you are old enough to drink.
red wines are many and varied, and there are some sweet ones too. i couldn't recommend a sweet one though because i don't like them and never drink them. cotes du rhone are fruity, soft red wines and you may find you like them. don't assume that because you didn't like one red wine you won't like any, they are all very different.
I have found a Greek red wine. Like you I like it sweet.
It is called (i hope i got the spelling right) MAVRODAPHNE.
You can buy it in Tescos for about 4.
You'll know when you've tasted a bad red wine after you've tried a few varieities, believe me. Just make sure you break the 5 barrier in the off licence for starters....
I had this problem a good few years ago so took myself off to the local adult education college and did an evening class in the 'Wines and Spirits Education Trust'. Drank loads and learnt loads and made some v good friends. Its all a matter of taste. I hate Pinot Noir (also found in champagne which I found out is why I don't like champagne) but like a good Merlot. Just because someone recommends a wine to you does not mean you will like it. If there is no course near you then try buying a few different ones, i.e a chianti, a rioja, a pinot noir, a merlot, a cabernet sauvignon and a shiraz and keep a few notes about them as you drink them to remind you what not to buy and what to try again, maybe same grape but different bottle. See how you go.
