spyware

hi there, i was offline for 2-3 days there, i contracted a virus, backdoor trojan. wee bro (who's v technical) fixed it.
the thing is a pop up appeared and said i had to purchase spyware from this american company for $49.00.
this is a ploy as they hoped you would indeed enter your credit card details to purchase this spyware, therefore obtaining your details. wee bro said the best spyware is free to download, no need to buy. im well protected now, but am shaking my head as to the lengths these people will go to to obtain private details. *****
