are e books secure?

i've seen a few books i would gladly pay for, but worry that they are scams. Is there anything I could look for that would help me determine whether or not they are safe?

What exactly are you worried about? The content of the ebook not being up to standard or as you expect, or the possibility of downloading viruses with it?

well, viruses, and spam, really.
It means giving your email address to someone you don't know.

You could always open a free email account for this sort of purpose. Gmail is good.
