My husband and I have recently got pay rises and have always said that we would get a cleaner when this happens. How much should we expect to pay per hour for a cleaner? We have a small 3 bedroom house - my husband thinks 2 hours per fortnight would be enough but I am more inclined to think 2 hours per week. Any advice please?

What would you expect the cleaner to do? Clean ovens, windows, iron, or just whizz round with the vacuum and duster?

Weekly, not fortnightly, and at least 7 per hour.
what area do you live in ... about 7 pound and up a hour .
my mum is a self employed cleaner and charges 10 an hour, just "normal cleaning" if she was asked to e.g clean an oven she would charge the same but may have to fit it into the allocated time slot for that house so wouldnt be able to do the regular cleaning.

Hi all, thanks for the answers. Would just want vacuum and dust as well as clean the kitchen and bathroom surfaces but not inside appliances. We live in Portsmouth. Would an hour a week be unrealistic?!
cleaners like to do at least 2 or 3 hours a week to make it worth while really ..
