Are there any circumstances at all in which a person would fill in their own offsprings birth certificate?

Has anything been added ?
Or has the whole thing been filled out inn thefather's hand. WHo has signed it? Is that the Dad as well ?
OR is it a copy ?
My Birth certificate was completely filled out and signed bythe registrar
or are you taking about cpies - even certified copies can be in anyone's hand ?
and finally you know that the old pinko birth certs are now not evidence of identity - the computer entry is.

Its a mystery for the X files! A friend of mine was telling me one day about her childhood and how she was treated so very differently from her sister (there was just the two siblings and the sister was only one year younger). My friend (who's in her early 50s now) was telling me how her sister was always very spoilt while she herself was almost ignored (for instance the sister was always given birthday parties every year when they were children etc etc while my friend wasn't). I said that I wondered whether she was actually adopted and her sister the biological child of her parents which would maybe explain why she was treated so unfairly. Anyway, after my friend gave me as many details as she could about her family I did a little investigating into birth records on line and discovered that though my friends birth was recorded and both her parents named as her parents, there was no record at all of the younger sister. Well we didnt know what to make of that. Now my friend has obtained her own birth certificates( both long and short) that have been in the family since she was born (meaning they're not copies) and much to my friends amazement they have both been filled out completely by her father (who died a few years back). My friend says she has no doubt at all that its her late fathers writing but she has a book that her father gave her for christmas when she was a child that he wrote in and the writing is identical which makes her even more certain that its his writing. It doesnt make any sense, especially as its her sister who has no official record, not her.
It is highly unlikely it is but you can tell if they are genuine as there will be the certified copy stamped on it. Unless you know exactkly how the civil registration index works you may well have missed the other girls entry, and the key factor would be who is down as the informant, the mother or father?
Cor Lizzy! Sounds intriguing! Is there anyway she could get hold of the birth certificates from her sister and you could prehaps compare the 2. Also you would know where to search for any records from details on her certificate to see if she does exist but prehaps under slightly different details (they were spelt wrong, different county etc..)
Is there any family who she could find out any more info from? If she has suspicions (sp?) prehaps close family will be more forthcoming with any secrets that were kept within the family.
Please keep us updated with any developments if you don't mind! fascinating stuff! I've subscribed to this thread. (Yes I need to get out more lol)

Just 16 mths, one born 7th Dec 1956 and the other born April 4th 1957. My friend has always noticed that there was only ever one lot of baby photos in the family album. Only one christening photo for instance and when she asked why there wasnt any photos of her christening the mother said they'd forgot to take the camera. (in fact the existing photo was said to be my friend and that the sister's christening hadnt been photographed. My friend and her sister have not been in contact for many years. The mother is still alive but my friend hasnt been in contact with her either after discovering that her name was omitted on her fathers gravestone (another strange fact). She (my friend) has only just begun really looking into all this since I told her that her sister's birth isn't recorded (which was a shock because I thought it was my friend who was going to turn out adopted which would explain why her family have always treated her so nastily. Ive checked a dozen times in the birth records, my friend is there but her sister is not. My friend's next move is to send of for some more birth certificates to see if they have the same details as the ones she has. I havent had the chance yet to ask her who the informant was on the birth certificate. or at least who it says it was.
can i just say there is 4 months between dec 56 and apr 57, have you definately checked all four quarters of each year as december births could be registered in january the following year and also, if the older child had been born before th parents married and the father did not attend the register office to register the birth it would have been registered in the mothers name.
