I moved house in February of this year and have inherited 12 Leylandi trees down the side of my garden which are now out of control. Behind the barely green outer, just beyond that it is all brown, the trees look very old and if we were to trim them all that would be left showing would be the brown. They come to my bedroom window in height, and look to be about 4 foot wide, taking up quite a lot of my garden. How much should I expect to pay for them to be cut down and removed? I don't want to be ripped off if I can help it. A friend suggested winter as it may be cheaper. Thanks for any replies
The price of these jobs can vary enormously depending on where you live. The ideal thing is to have someone who's been recommended but failing that look in your local Yellow pages under Tree Work, call at least 4 & ask them to come & give you an estimate. They are often very busy & you may have to wait a while so it's best to look into it sooner rather than later.
We carry out this type of work and agree with Robinia that it's best to get a few quotes. Decide what you want before anyone comes along and make sure they quote like for like. There are many specialist tree companies around. You need to specify 'To cut down trees, stump grind or dig out stumps, remove all arisings and leave site neat and tidy'. Dont pay anything until the job is complete and you are satisfied with the work.
