this is for a young lad at work, he was pulled over in a police intensive traffic thing in Hindley last week, and they shone a light into his wiondscreen and said it was too tinted and gave him a 30 fine, he bought the car from the manufacturuers like that and so he contacted them and is awaiting their reply, he has appealed the fine but has 28 days to give his reasons and the manufacturer has not got back to him (soz i didn't ask him what car it was). he has checked out the law and there is one, but his car is an X reg., i said i thought maybe the LAW HAD COME IN AFTER IT'S MANUFACTURE, WHAT DO YOU THINK? THERE is another thread about window tinting and fines but that is about self-tinting not factory produced and so i did read the 'already asked' options like a good little aber!!

The law states:

For vehicles first used after March 30, 1985, the front windscreen and side front windows must allow at least 70% of any light to be transmitted through the glass. The rear side and back windows can be tinted to any level.

No kempie it certainly didn;t as i did look at the few that came up when i first submitted this one, that thread does explain more, but it is not clear what the manufacturers are doing about their cars that need to be changedm this lkad was fined on the spot but he didn;t say whether the police told him to take the car off the road.
I suspect that those manufacturers which supplied factory tints have spent less time, effort and money on rectifying the problems encountered by their customers than they have on distancing themselves from the problem.
Nowt to do with the thread dot. I pressume your a wiganer? so from one to another how`do

Hi teash,

i work in Wigan with many a Wiganer! It's had abit of a facelift recently too and so it is a lot busier. it's the Casino anniversary do there tonight, supposed to be a busy event in the new arcade. Russ Winstanley is about, as usual!
hi, i think the law states you cant have both the rear window and the drivers screen tinted. but i know it definately is ellegal to have limosine black tinted windows as they are too dark but that might depend on the mood the copper is in!

Must be your Wigan-centric PC, Teash. Kempie's thread seems pretty on the mark to me.
