Sky to HD wiring configuration?
4 Answers
Sky digital box coaxial output, via coax cable to a 4xway amplifier (for TV signal distribution around the house).
Coax cable from 4 x way amp to DVD recorders coaxial digital aerial input. *
DVD recorders coaxial digital aerial output to DVD recorders coaxial analogue aerial input. *
* As instructed by Sony.
Sky digital is only available thru the HD TV analogue tuner and the resulting Sky picture & audio quality is poor.
The HD TV and DVD recorder are near top of the range and come with a good selection of connections.
Therefore, my question is, how can I configure the wiring between these 2 items if the signal is still to come from the amplifier?

Digibox RF out to DVD Rec RF in,DVD Rec out to Aerial Amp RF in, 4 way Aerial, distribute wherever. I have a similar system & I incorporate a VCR in between Digibox & DVD Rec,I then feed 3 more TVs from this config & it all works a treat.Ron.
Hi Pug100,
With thanks for your reply.
I forgot to mention that I had an HDMI cable between DVD recorder & HDTV and this has proved to be worth the money when playing DVD.
But I am having to use coaxial cable to connect from Sky digital to the DVD recorder via the 4 x way amp to enable Sky distribution around the house.
If there is an alternative method (eg digital amplification and not analogue amplification) thus providing a 'near direct' digital connect to the recorder from the Sky box, then that would be the ideal.
