incompatible mobile phone

Please help!! My daughter and I have just bought new mobiles, they are both orange network and work fine EXCEPT we cannot text each other, nothing we do will get the texts to arrive on either phone, all other contacts receive and send. We can`t go back to the shop until Tuesday [ Bank Holiday] Please, all you clever people out there , is it something simple we`re not doing, [it`s not a weak signal]

There may be a short number to ring orange off your mobile , like there is with O2 , but otherwise just ring the customer service number , which is pre-set in your contacts , which should be ....07973100150 :-)
