old dept

i have credit card and bank loan dept from 1998 i lost my job in 98 my solicitor at the time sent out letters to all my creditors and none replied,i then took the standpoint to ignor there letters,for the first 4or5 of years i got various threatning letters whitch i ignored,then i heard nothing till now,i recieved a letter from makenziehall asking me to contact them,my question is how long can they pursue me for this dept,sorry for the spelling.

It is usually 6 years but if you have acknowledged the debt or made a part payment within that time, the 6 years starts again.

cheers for prompt reply cheekychop,i have never replied to the o/s depts at all,not even acknowleging recept of the letters,does this change anything
