EBAY -
6 Answers
Hi guys, I have been without internet connection for over a month nearly and have just got it back. So I have gone through my emails and have found an ebay email saying that my direct debit has been accepted. I have not signed up for any Ebay direct debit - I have an account though. The Email is official because every other email from them has had the same address. So 1. how did they make a direct debiot with my account details when I have never saved them on my account. 2. what the hell can I do about it???
Thanku

They make you open the email, and then in order to continue you have to paste in your username and password. Then the spoof people have your details. Did you reply to the email? Best send it to Ebay and ask if it is genuinely from them, and tell them your problem. [email protected]
AND cancel the direct debit, if it actually exists.
If any Direct Debit has been set up - speak to your bank. Have them cancel it, tell them that you did not authorise it and ask for an "indemnity", which means that the bank will refund any money that has gone out of your account. From your description you are guaranteed to get any money back that may have gone out to ebay.
Also - I agree with the spoof email concern. It goes without saying that you shouldn't enter your account/bank details in reply to any emails.
