Is there a way to temporarily disable AVG in its entirety, or do you have to disable each component individually?

I don't want to uninstall it, just exclude it for troubleshooting purposes.

I haven't used AVG for some time, but try right clicking on the icon by the clock - and exit.

You should get a warning that your closing it.
As a matter of interest Ethel, what anti virus do you use now? I changed from Norton to AVG on recommendation from you and others and I am very happy with it. I have the free version plus the paid for firewall.

I'm on a different computer (without AVG) at the moment, but I'm sure there was no option to exit via right-clicking - I would have tried that first.
Dudley - I changed from ZoneAlarm firewall to Comodo and from AVG to Avast.

Both free.

I changed about 3 months ago, and am so far satisfied.

Do you think Avast is better than AVG? What does it do better?
