My bill for 2 plus 2 teenage dustbins only reaches that total at Christmas - the rest of the year it's probably between 70 and 100, depending on cleaning products, loo rolls and DVD or CD purchases. I shop at Asda, despite eldest dustbin working at Sainsbury's and getting 10% discount.
Ok, well my Mum does a weekly shop for 6 humans, 3 dogs, several cats, etc, and it comes to about 70 at most. We do but nearly all tesco/asda own brands so that brings it down, and thinking about it, we don't have much food in the house! lol. But Mum buys milk separately, and often tops up on fruit/veg throughout the week. Considering she has to make packed lunches for four people (and one of those has at least 8 sandwiches), I think she does pretty darn good! In a way, I think what brings the price of our shopping down is the fact that we're all really fussy so she only buys stuff that we all will eat, which doesn't amount to too much!
The amount we spend for 2 adults per week/month in total can vary greatly! After just moving house we found we had to cut back a lot on what we were spending and managed to spend less than 20 for a week's shopping. I found some great tips for cutting costs by surfing on the net- searching for healthy eating on a shoe string etc. I found that planning some basic healthy meals then buying only what is needed to make those meals reduced the shopping bill dramatically. We enjoyed this food so much too! Although it is easy to slip back to eating what you fancy- which can work out expensive. Bulk buying ingredients like pasta, rice, cereal etc has also been cheaper in the long run. Also not being fooled by so called offers- sometimes youend up spending more because of an offer but then not really needing the items!
