North Carolina
Hello everyone - my daughter is going on a business trip to Durham, North Carolina quite soon, and asks what she should bring back as presents for us. I know the pound/dollar rate is quite favourable at the moment but what can she obtain in NC that she couldn't get here? Thanks for looking......

We really like the country hams and bacon available in the Southern areas, but it's deffinitely an acquired taste. The area outside of Durham/Raleigh is very rural and handmade quilts, knitted and crocheted items and other such things are very collectable. Which is one avenue she could explore... if you happen to collect any items, perhaps she could find an example from the U.S.
By the way, here's an events calendar for the Durham area:

Thank you Clanad, you're very kind. I think some small handcrafted knitted or crocheted item typical of the area would fit the bill perfectly. She will be spending 5 days in each month at the Constella Group offices, the parent company of her employers in Oxfordshire, so I suppose she will have lots of time to look around. I visited the website you recommended and the area looks quite charming. Regards, Greenrook
