Yes Diana did a lot of work for charity but a lot of it was for her own profile and to manipulate the press.

see my post a week ago. My mum dies 10 years ago today aged 45 of cancer. She deserves a memorial service together with all the other people that died on this day. Unfortunately it's not just today it has been every year since she bloody died!!! doesn't help people who lost someone on the same day. I am planning a no news and paper day.
Don't even get me started on this!! I didn't know Diana, I don't think she did anything for this country and I completely don't understand why all this Diana worship goes on, or the mentallity of those who contribute to it.
She did some good charity work, but no more than other royals, and let's face it someone in her position does not have to give up much to offer support to charity. It goes with the job!! For instance, Princess Anne has worked tirelessly for charities for decades without any media interest, probably because she is not a glamorous attention seeking person.
Needless to say I am steering clear of any News programmes or newspapers today.

She had her 15 minutes of fame now enough is enough. I was fed up at the time of her death when they cancelled all sporting fixtures that w/e.
The woman was not without fault. Okay Charles was unfaithful first but at least it was only with one woman. Diana had a string of lovers, including one who unless I'm very much mistaken looks very much like one of her children.

Just read yourselves! What a selfish shallow lot! Are there no romantics out there? She was badly used and fought back, we loved her for it, warts and all. She blew fresh air into the dusty corridors of power and we loved her for that. Had she lived she would have matured into a great ambassador for Britain and I believe done great work for the underpriviledged. She left two sons who want her to be remembered as they remember her, a loving person who made people happy. I do know this, she will be remembered in history.
Why am I effish, shallow and unromantic because I don't happen to believe Diana was some sort of present day saint? I don't understand the reasoning behind those accusations Veebird!!
I believe that the shallow people are those that follow like sheep without much thought about why they worshipped this person. She was an ordinary person, with her good points and her faults. I do not believe she was badly used at all.
Are we going to celebrate Mother Theresa's death ten years ago! I don't suppose so - and she was an unselfish saintly person.
