battery power

i changed my gearbox on my escort rs2000, it starts up and drives perfectly, but now the battery light comes on, can anyone tell me how to find the fault? thanks

Is the batterylight on dim, it could be that the earth strap from the engine to the body is missing or loose then there will be a voltage drop between the alternator and the battery earth causing the charge light to come on.

the battery light is on dim, i fitted the earth strap to one of the bolts on the gearbox

get a multi tester and test the voltage that the alternater is putting out if it is less than about 14 volts the alternater could be at fault !

even thou the alternator was workin b4 the change?

i think there is an earh strap that goes on the gearbox. make sure it is a clean tight connection.
