how do i protect yukkas outside in the winter

wrap them in fleece - available from most garden centres, or I hear bubble wrap is just as good.

'Quote' from the BBC website (How to be a Gardener - Protecting plants through winter) Truss up the leaves of outdoor yuccas with string so the �heart� of the rosette is protected. I'd be inclined to do that, then use canes to create a 'wigwam' and cover in fleece. 1 layer of fleece gives frost protection down to -5C. Hope this helps.
