Barclays Debit Card not replaced

My Barclays Visa Electron card expired on 31st August and I am still waiting to get a new one in the post. When I rang Barclays a couple of days ago the advisor told me I could still use the expired one as it was the PIN number which counted not the card. When buying online it is the card number and expiry date which are asked for and not the PIN. Has anyone else had this experience with Barclays ? My other bank accounts usually send the new card up to a month before the old one expires. Also, would I have any grounds for making a formal complaint ?

Of course you can compain but if you are after compensation, I doubt you will get any.

I think they are talking rubbish when they say that its the PIN that counts and not the card, as you say, the expiry date is printed on the front of the card! If you tried to use it to pay for anything it would almost certainly be declined.

Thanks for your comments. I am not seeking compensation but I do believe I have received shabby service.
