Why do TV companys put such easy questions when you phone in at a 1 a minute. Surely they'd make more moeny with difficult questions cos you'd phone 3 times to try & win?
Surely the TV companies want as many people to phone as possible to make as much money as possible. If the questions were too hard it would probably put people off trying in the first place.
so why have any questions then? why not just phnoe in and leave your name. some of the comps i've seen I cant imagine anyone being so thick getting it wrong. its not a competiton if everyone knows the answer.
Because they're charging an entry fee in the price of the call. If there were no questions it would then be classified as a lottery. The general rule in the UK is that lotteries cannot be run for private or commercial gain.
By having to answer a question (no matter how moronic) it theoretically becomes a game of skill rather than a game of chance. If it's a game of skill you're allowed to make a nice easy fat profit
The reason for the easy question is because it attracts more people to the competition. If you have a chance of winning 1000 then you don't mind spending that 1 or 1.50 on that call.A classic example of this is on Richard & Judy in that game they play "You name we pay" after spending say 1.50 if that on the call, you have a very good chance if picked of walking away with a few or even several thousand pounds.
Also with the target audience for these types of quizzes, anything more challenging than saying their own name may be considered a hard question. I don't mean to offend anyone other than the creators of the shows here.
